Welcome to my personal photographic journey to capture moments as life unfolds around me. Through my lens, I aim to portray the patterns amidst chaos, the beauty within the diverse stories found in the streets of life. Let's embark on an exploration of everyday moments, revealing the genuine connections that exist in our shared human experience.

Paris - all about tones

Paris is the city of lights and also for almost everyone a city of romance. The first time I visited Paris, I hated all of it. But the second time I realised that I was looking at it from a very narrow angle. I was looking for immaculate cleanliness and immaculate city as shown in the movies. But I was wrong. Paris is a city of love indeed, because I did fall in love with the character of the city. The chaos and the quirkiness of the city is charming to say the least and therefore I decided to create a mini-series in Paris with the most soulful camera and film that I have and use..

Grit & Character, a journey through the English Streets

As I walk the streets of the Britain, I am struck by the palpable sense of history and diversity that permeates every corner of this country. From the ancient cobblestones underfoot to the vibrant cultures that blend seamlessly together, this country is a melting pot of experiences and stories. Nowhere is that more evident than in the streets themselves.

Each street has its own personality, its own quirks, and its own characters that breathe life into the city. From the street performers and artists to the vendors and commuters, there is a rich tapestry of humanity that weaves its way through the streets, each thread adding to the unique fabric of each city that I went to. Having previously experienced this in India, exploring, assimilating the vibe and being at one with the streets, delighted me to no end.

The grit and character of the streets is etched into every frame. From the peeling paint on a door to the rusted ironwork of a fence, and the worn faces of the people passing by - all of these elements come together to create a portrait of a country that is both timeless and ever-evolving. It has been 6 years since I left, but if there is ever a place where I really belonged, it was the UK.

In these photographs, I hope to capture not only the grit and character of the streets, but also the history and diversity that make the country truly unique. From the grand architecture of the past to the vibrant energy of the present, these images are a tribute to the many faces of this country and the spirit that animates its streets.

Redemption: A photo series on Muharram celebrations in Hyderabad

As a photographer from Kolkata, I was struck by the rich cultural diversity that I encountered during my short stay in Hyderabad. This vibrant city seemed to overflow with different traditions and practices, each of them a unique expression of India's multiculturalism.

One evening, as I was taking a leisurely walk through the streets of Hyderabad, I came across a lively celebration that I had never expected to see. It was Muharram, the sacred month of remembrance for Muslims, and the streets were filled with people singing, dancing, and feasting.

Despite being from a different part of the country, I was deeply moved by the beauty and significance of the Muharram celebrations in Hyderabad. Through my lens, I sought to capture the spirit of the festivities and the deep sense of devotion and redemption that the participants embodied.

In this series of photographs, I hope to convey the unique cultural traditions that are found throughout India, and to showcase the rich diversity that makes this country so special. May these images serve as a tribute to the resilience and faith of those who continue to honour the memory of Imam Hussein and the sacrifices he made for the greater good.

Portraits of a Journey: A Photographic Memoir

In the words of the famous American photographer Dorothea Lange, "Photography takes an instant out of time, altering life by holding it still." This sentiment rings true for any photographer who has ever sought to capture a moment, a memory, or a feeling that might otherwise slip away into the past.

For the past 6-7 years, I have been on a journey with my wife, traveling to different countries, experiencing different cultures, and creating memories that will last a lifetime. Throughout this journey, I have used my camera to capture my wife's essence, her beauty, and her spirit as she moves through different landscapes, moods, and moments in time.

In these portraits, my wife is the protagonist, the center of attention, the one who draws us in and holds our gaze. She is at once vulnerable and strong, contemplative and adventurous, intimate and playful. The different countries and timelines serve as a backdrop, a context, a frame that emphasizes the uniqueness and richness of each moment.

As you browse through these images, I invite you to join us on our journey, to immerse yourself in the beauty and complexity of the world around us, and to savour the preciousness of each fleeting moment. May these portraits serve as a reminder that our lives are a collection of stories, and that every story is worth telling.
